2024 Counselor Team

Rockville, MD
University of Maryland, 2022
Camper: 1 year (2016)
Counselor: 5 years (2017-19, 22-23)
Mia works full time as a clinical assistant in a testing lab (because she's old now and needs health insurance), and is also a graphic design contractor for NIH. She's forgotten the meaning of free time, but no matter how busy she is, she will always make time for WMACS!
Even though she was only a camper for one year, Mia has been a counselor for five years. That's how big an impact camp has had on her life- all of the friends she made and experiences she had as a result of WMACS are priceless to her. She keeps coming back because she wants to make sure campers have just as much fun as she did, and wants to help campers foster those life long friendships. She can't wait for the best week of the year to start and see all her camp friends again!

Zachary graduated from UMD in 2023, and has been working as a software developer ever since. Otherwise, you can find him outside playing volleyball, or in his room playing various games. Some of his favorites include League of Legends, Hades, BTD6, and many more. His most recent obsession has been doing the New York Times games and puzzles, as well as binge watching korean dramas. Zach is super excited to meet everyone as head counselor, and will look forward to seeing everyone at camp!

Annandale, VA
University of Maryland, 2021 & 2023
Camper: 8 years (2010-17)
Counselor: 4 years (2018-19, 22-23)
Emily currently works as an Academic Coach at George Mason University. When they’re not working with students, you can find her at a dance class or the gym, building legos, tearing up over doggo videos, or going on yet another walk. They love going to concerts and keeping up with their favorite groups, BTS & Seventeen
⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ (still patiently waiting for svt to announce their US tour…)
As someone who basically grew up at camp, Emily’s favorite time of the year is definitely the last week of July! They met some of their closest friends at camp and looked up to the counselors that always made her feel welcomed. She’s passionate about supporting community spaces for Asian Americans, which is probably why they can’t stop coming back to camp. They’re really easily entertained, like really, so if you ever need someone to laugh at your lame jokes, find Emily! She can’t wait for another memorable week with new and returning faces >ᴗ<

Tysons, VA

Counselor: 4 years (2017-18, 22-23)
George graduated from UMD in 2020 and had been working in tech consulting before joining a finance startup in in late 2022. He spends his free time gaming, cooking, playing with his 2 cats, and laying down wasting away the day watching YouTube Apart from that, he still aspires to some day complete the 15,000 calorie challenge.
He’s made it a personal goal for himself to get to know campers better this year, so don’t be afraid to come up and talk to him!

Potomac, MD
Salisbury University, 2021
Camper: 6 years (2009-11, 13-14, 16)
Counselor: 3 years (2017, 22-23)
Ethan graduated from Salisbury University in 2021, during which he was already working full-time in the Esports industry. After a long four years, he decided he was ready for another adventure. He is currently getting his Master's in IT Project Management and is excited for a career change! When he is not taking classes, Ethan coaches track and field! He has coached at Winston Churchill High School where he even coached counselor Ethan Yen for a time. Ethan loves sports! Whether it is learning volleyball, coaching Track and Field, or playing basketball with other counselors (both current and former) above all else Ethan loves staying active.
Ethan loves everything about WMACS. Ethan thinks that the years he spent as a counselor were possibly even better than the years he spent as a camper! Ethan heard about WMACS through some of his best friends and made even more friends once at camp. Ethan hopes that campers will find WMACS every bit as fulfilling and meaningful as he does.

Alexandria, VA

Camper: 9 years (2011-19)
Counselor: 2 years (2022-23)
Jennifer is a recent graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science with a Psychology minor. Currently, she is working in the area as a software developer for Freddie Mac. When not click-clacking away like a code monkey during her 9-5, Jennifer enjoys baking, dancing, crocheting, upcycling clothes, and the periodic crossword puzzle. She also loves endlessly scrolling on TikTok and exploring new TV shows, movies, and music so send any TikToks or other recommendations her way :D
WMACS has been a part of Jennifer’s life for as long as she can remember. During her time as both a camper and counselor, she has loved coming back each year to reconnect with old friends and to meet new friendly faces. From running around doing team activities to sitting around eating XiaoYe with everyone, some of Jennifer’s fondest memories are during her years at camp. Jennifer is excited to return as a counselor and can’t wait to jump back into the fun and excitement again this summer!

Megan is very excited to be a WMACS counselor again this year. Camp has a very special place in her heart and she’s eager to start planning. And, as always, she looks forward to seeing everyone at camp and meeting all the new campers!

Camper: 5 years (2015-2019, 2022)
Counselor: 1 year (2023)
Calvin likes: listening to music(especially KPOP), dancing to Kpop, choreographing dances, Red Velvet (ultimate favorite best kpop group), pushups, biking, raspberries, some anime, Star Wars, spicy food (the spicier the better), CHINESE FOOD FOR LIFE!, Korean BBQ, helping people, and of course WMACS.
Calvin dislikes: drawing attention to himself, and for the gamers- losing the 50/50 D: and bot laners (adc “carries”)
Calvin is currently a sophomore majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education and Dance at Salisbury University. During his free time away from completing assignments, he likes to dance, go on walks, listen to music and play games with friends.
He really enjoyed and valued his time with WMACS as a camper, and is grateful to continue being part of the community as a counselor. Last year was cut short too soon, so he is super excited to be given another opportunity to be able to reconnect with everyone again. He holds many fond memories with WMACS and can’t wait to make more with new and familiar faces.

Arlington, VA
Christopher Newport University, 2026
Camper: 6 years (2015-19, 22)
Counselor: First year!!!
Josiah is a sophomore in college studying psychology. The current thing he’s obsessed with is the sport Spikeball. He plays violin, piano, and guitar, although the last 2 he’s only recently picked back up or started learning within the past year. He’s played all the video games that you’ve never heard of. He dabbles in gym-going and is almost half a year sober off of creatine and protein powder. He is also a big-time anime nerd. Can eat a lot of food. Wants to get a haircut soon (so he won’t look like this at camp)! Has a brother (see if you can find him).
Josiah dislikes not having enough time to pursue all of his hobbies.
Ever since his 1st year of WMACS as an 11 year old, he knew that camp was where he wanted to be. He has had so much fun with everybody throughout the years, and now he has the chance to be on the counselor side of camp helping the campers have tons of fun as well (though he plans to keep having fun too)!

Arlington, VA
Virginia Tech, 2027
Camper: 6 years (2015-18, 22-23)
Counselor: First year!
Oliver is currently studying at Virginia Polytechnic University (VT for short) and working towards his B.S. in Psychology. In his spare time he likes to lift, play sports, play video games, read, listen to music, and go for walks. He also loves eating and talking about food.
As a long-time camper of WMACS, he’s gone from a fresh-faced and shy first year to an
experienced, confident, group leader. Oliver has large shoes to fill as a first year counselor, but just because he’s on the clock doesn’t mean he’s not committed to meeting new people and making friends. The most important part of WMACS for him is ensuring that incoming campers can have the same experience creating memories and having fun, and he can’t wait to work with WMACS to make the best year of summer camp so far.

Gaithersburg, MD
University of Maryland, 2027
Camper: 5 years (2015-19)
Counselor: First year
Alex is a freshman at the University of Maryland, College Park, studying Computer Science. He enjoys playing soccer, weightlifting, playing video games, playing the violin, and listening to music. His favorite foods at the moment are pho, hot pot, KBBQ and Chipotle.
One of Alex’s favorite memories at WMACS was Mia giving his friend, Nathan, bee pollen medicine in the middle of the night. Because it was so spicy and he didn't expect it, Nathan ended up spitting it out and tearing up a little. Nathan, the campers, and counselors had a good laugh. As a new counselor, Alex will work to give campers the same experience with many funny memories as he was able to have for many years, and hopes that he can get along with all the campers!

Ethan is a rising second year student at UMD, studying computer science. When he’s not immersed in coding, he can be found outdoors, running or hiking. His love for athletic activities extends to various sports: soccer, volleyball, frisbee, billiards, golf, ping pong, bowling, and swimming – some of which can be found on his YouTube channel! Beyond his athletic pursuits, Ethan is an avid food enthusiast! He enjoys cooking meals for his family and friends. His speciality is bubble tea. Ethan also likes to try all sorts of cuisines. Right now, his favorite dish is blackened gator bites.
With COVID taking away a few years of camp, Ethan is glad to be back (as a counselor this time). He is extremely excited to create the best week of the summer for all the campers. He’s made so many memories with many life-long friends and is thrilled to make more. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for some yoyo tricks. He’s got a few up his sleeve. See you all at camp!

This is her first year as a college student, as well as her first year as a WMACS counselor! Even though she hasn’t been to WMACS in a few years, Iris can’t wait to be back, working alongside the counselors this year! Some of her favorite memories were made at camp during her time as a camper, and she can’t wait to make more favorite memories with everyone in WMACS. Claire was a camper for two years and looks back at her camp memories fondly. She is extremely excited to return to camp this year, this time not as a camper but a counselor! From late night talks to laughter-filled games and goofy singalongs, Claire has forged many valuable friendships at camp, some of which have endured to this day. She hopes to make camp the most unforgettable experience so that campers can reminisce on their WMACS memories just as fondly as she does.

This is Wesley and he is currently a student at UVA as a rising sophomore. Wesley loves music of all kinds, playing musical instruments, working out, reading, painting, and his beautiful two pets. He does not like waiting in line in amusement parks, hot rooms while sleeping, and he especially dislikes jugdemental people.
This year Wesley hopes to make friends with all the new campers and counselors in order to have the most fun year possible. Wesley's WMACS years were very special and he hopes to recreate it and perhaps make it even more special for new and returning campers.

Favorite Candy: Nerds Gummy Clusters
Vannak is currently an Information Science student at the University of Maryland and is planning on graduating this fall. He has had photography and videography experience documenting events like Head in the Clouds LA and working with artists such as Lyn Lapid.
Vannak’s favorite WMACS memories include: hearing about all of the cool events that go on during camp, seeing all the cool WMACS shirts worn by his friends (shoutout WMACS Bunny), and the ones he is going to make this year! Although he has not been a camper or counselor, he is extremely excited to to see how camp unfolds and help create and document memories. Some of his other passions include volleyball, dancing (will dance battle you), and being Head Honcho Zachary Dou’s grad pic photographer. Don’t be afraid to strut up to him as he WILL turn you into a runaway model, bestie, and he's way cooler than Head Honcho Zachary Dou. He might be away from the action taking pictures, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t say hi!
